We were invited by former Consul General of the Swedish Consulate General in Shanghai, Mr. Bengt Johansson, to participate in his book launch event, accompanied by his wife Anita, who previously served as the Commercial Consul General of Sweden in Shanghai.

Bengt's book ''Det förflutna var ljust, framtiden osäker'' is about Swedish companies in China. The English translation is ''The past was bright, the future is uncertain''. At the launch, Bengt introduced his book, findings of his research of some 40 Swedish companies and their stories in China. He also introduced his work as a promoter of Swedish exports during more than 40 years and his lessons learned during such a long period.

By having this chance, Bengt Johansson briefly presented two of his other books that are already on sale in Shanghai. One book ''Svenskars liv och leverne 1847-2012'' depicts the history of the Swedish community in Shanghai and the other book ''The Golden Age of China Trade'' (in English) describes the important Swedish trade with China in the 18th century.
